Manny Pacquiao in TIME Magazine

Filipino boxing champion, Manny Pacquiao was included in the list of “people who mattered in 2009”, being listed in lined with US President Barack Obama and ahead of Republican Vice President candidate Sarah Palin.

A very good achievement I may say.

He once again made the Philippines history at its best.
I heard his name when I was in elementary, because we are required to do a sports report. That was really a long time ago, but I can say that every year had been his time in boxing and thus, a time to prove himself to us. I’ am not a boxing aficionado, but I do admit that every battle he’s into made me kind of be like a boxer. We are all sited with our hopes that Manny is going to bring home the bacon. Believe it or not there was no traffic at all because of the fact that most of the people were busy with Manny’s fight.

And yes, he served our fellowmen as a big hope from all the pain that 2009 had put us thru. The tales of violence, poverty and even natural disaster. He served as a fighter that helped some of our fellowmen to forget for a while the heartfelt pain.

And I agreed, that he was really one of those Filipino that mattered this 2009 To those Filipino who take time to watch his fights, who swayed to his boxing moves and to those who even bother to take a look his private life. At the end of the day, he was just an ordinary one once, until his patience paved way to his success.
